Let’s Go Pets

A royal fan.

Founded in 1962 as a replacement for New York's departed National League teams, the Brooklyn Dodgers and the New York Giants. The team's colors, blue and orange, were chosen to honor these former teams, reflecting their historic legacies.

In their early years, the Mets were noted for their lack of success, setting a record for losses in a single season with 120 in their first year.

The Mets' fortunes changed dramatically in 1969 with a stunning transformation led by manager Gil Hodges and star players like Tom Seaver. This culminated in the "Miracle Mets" winning the 1969 World Series against the Baltimore Orioles, an event that is still celebrated by Mets fans.

The 1980s were another high point for the Mets, highlighted by their 1986 World Series win against the Boston Red Sox. This series featured the famous Game 6, where a little roller up along first and a series of mishaps by the Red Sox allowed the Mets to stage a last-minute comeback and eventually win the game and the series.
