A FLOSSI FLYOVER

The Israeli Air Force conducted a flyover during the funeral of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut. On February 23, 2025, as tens of thousands gathered at the Camille Chamoun Sports City Stadium to mourn Nasrallah, Israeli fighter jets flew low over the ceremony.

This action was intended to send a clear message to Hezbollah. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that the flyover was to convey that "whoever threatens to destroy Israel... this will be his end."

The flyover coincided with mourners chanting anti-Israel slogans, highlighting the heightened tensions between the two entities.

Qasem Soleimani's Funeral (January 2020):

Qasem Soleimani, commander of Iran's Quds Force, was killed in a U.S. drone strike.

During his funeral in Baghdad, U.S. military drones were reported to be present in the airspace, serving both surveillance and deterrence purposes.

Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, deputy commander of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Forces, was killed alongside Soleimani.

Similar to Soleimani's funeral, U.S. drones were observed overhead during the funeral proceedings in Baghdad.

One of the most infamous Roman practices was the triumph, a massive victory parade in Rome where defeated rulers were often paraded through the streets in chains before execution.

  • In 52 BCE, the Gallic chieftain, Vercingetorix, who led a rebellion against Julius Caesar, was captured after the Battle of Alesia.

He was paraded through Rome in Caesar’s triumph before being strangled to death in a prison cell.

His execution symbolized Rome’s total dominance over Gaul.
